Anita (Glassman) Elkies, 87, of 175 Jefferson St., Fairfield, devoted wife of the late Leonard J. Elkies, died on Monday, Aug. 27, 2012.
Born in Providence, RI., Dec. 7, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Harry & Mary Glassman. Beloved mother of Bill Elkies of Orange & Gary Elkies of West Haven.
Dear sister of the late Adele Hellman, Henry & William Glassman. Cherished grandmother of Howie, Eileen & Robert & Megan. Treasured great-grandmother of Reid.
Anita was a Past-President of Temple Beth El of Stamford’s Sisterhood, Past-Pres. of Stamford Chapter of Hadassah, & Past-Regional Vice-Pres of Hadassah.
She was a Founder of the Wepawaug Chapter of Hadassah.
Funeral services at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Glendale, Queens, N.Y. were held on Wednesday morning. A period of mourning was held thru Thursday evening.

Funeral arrangements were in care of Robert E. Shure Funeral Home, New Haven.
