The Orange Highway Department is asking residents for help with the upcoming storm.
Foreman Don Foyer said, “Please clean the storm drains on your street. With heavy rain predicted and falling leaves, we need help from everyone.”
Foyer said the Highway Department will most likely be busy taking care of downed trees and residents will be on their own when it comes to flooding due to blocked drains.
In anticipation of a multitude of rain, the Highway Department crews went out on Friday and picked up a couple of loads of sand so residents can make sand bags to protect their property from flood waters.
“Sand bags will be available at the Highway Garage, 308 Lambert Road. Please bring a shovel,” Foyer said. “Like Motel 6, we will leave the lights on for those coming after hours.”
