The smell of pine saturated the air and the sound of chainsaws could be heard around every corner. Sandy was supposed to be a catastrophic storm, but somehow Orange came out of it better than it had after Irene.
Preparation may have been the key, with tree trimming done in advance and the complete emergency plan laid out before the first breeze blew in.
