The Orange Emergency Shelter at High Plains has been hopping all afternoon and as the temperatures drop, I don’t see it slowing down tonight.
Orange residents Isabel and Bridget Browe became concerned about their pets, Geckos Uki and Sahara when the power went out.
Reptiles need heat, so the girls and their mother brought a large glass aquarium into the shelter and plugged the heat lamp into the wall and gave shelter visitors something unusual to look at when they come in.
The sheltering operation is running so smoothly that you’d think the volunteers have been doing it forever.
The generosity of the public and local restaurants has been greatly appreciated.
