The Connecticut State Police has issued its final report for the New Year’s Enforcement Operation statewide. Troopers were assigned to patrol both highways and secondary roads across the State of Connecticut.
The operation was in effect starting at midnight Dec. 29, 2012 and continued through midnight ending on Jan. 2, 2013.
Troopers have manned sobriety checkpoints and have been assigned to specific areas where higher then normal DUI accidents and arrests have taken place
The following stats are taken from the operation starting on Dec. 29, 2012 at 12:01 a.m. to Jan. 1, 2013 at midnight.
TOTALS:
Accidents Investigated: 419 (snowstorm Saturday)
with injury: 41
Fatalities: 0
DUI Arrests: 44
Speeding: 576
Seatbelt: 42
Hazardous Moving Violations: 1,129 (following too close, cell phone violations, unsafe lane change etc)
Troopers are continuing to ask all motorists who see a suspected drunk driver to call 911, as this is a true emergency.
