Amity’s Awesome Danny Grober
From the moment Amity Senior Danny Grober stepped onto the mat with his opponent from Shelton High School on Wednesday night around 7:25 p.m. nearly everyone in the room was on his side — except the Shelton Gaels and their fans.
Grober took his opponent down and in a minute or two and when the match was over the Amity Gymnasium erupted in applause as Athletic Director Paul Mengold announced that this was Grober’s 100th win.
Amity fans held up signs with the number 100 and blew noise makers as Grober shook hands with Head Coach Bruce Marien, assistant coaches, Mengold and his teammates.
“Hitting 100 is a very big deal,” Mengold told Orange Live. “Not many Amity wrestlers have done it.”
Congratulations Danny, Great Job! You make all of us proud!
