This is a message from the Orange Police Department:
Do not attempt to drive on roads that have not been plowed. Snow drifts may be several feet deep. Stuck and stranded vehicles will hamper efforts to open roadways. Normal snow removal equipment has not been effective. Heavy equipment is being used. The process is slow. Please be patient.
The highway department has no estimate as to when individual roads will be cleared. Please do not tie up emergency dispatchers with questions regarding road openings.
When clearing driveways, DO NOT leave snow piles in the roadway, this can limit access for emergency vehicles.
Shoveling snow can be strenuous, please take rest breaks when removing heavy snow.
When defrosting and clearing vehicles ensure the exhaust is clear.
Furnace and dryer vents should be kept clear.
Please clear hydrants in your neighborhood, if possible.
Consider checking on elderly neighbors.
The shelter remains closed at this time. We encourage residents to shelter in place.
We are fortunate we have not lost power
Call 911 for emergencies only.
