From Charles Britton’s Weekly Newsletter:

Graduation Location: For the past four years, the graduation ceremony at Amity Regional High School has been complicated by the weather. In 2009, graduation was held outdoors in blistering heat and humidity.

In 2010, graduation was held outside, and it rained cats and dogs in the middle of the ceremony.

(One of our readers said, “The dates are off- 2009 it rained and was outdoors, 2010 was indoors)

In 2011 and 2012, graduation was held indoors in the gymnasium. Indoor graduation is nice, but only two tickets are allowed for each student in the graduating class. Other family members and friends were forced to watch the graduation ceremony on television screens in the cafeteria, or a movie screen in the Brady Center.

This year, we are considering holding the graduation ceremony at the Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford.

The theatre accommodates 4500 people, which means each graduate would receive 10 tickets.

The theatre provides a reception following the graduation, and handles many graduation logistics (parking, security, handicap accommodations, etc..).

What do you think, Amity? Is this a good idea?
