Please help emergency crews (and yourself) out by shoveling completely around fire hydrants in front of your homes.
The time you spend on it now could actually save your home or lives in the event of an emergency later.
Asst Chief Cuozzo said it, The Emergency Management Director said it and the CERT crew requested it before the first snowflake fell.
I followed firefighters around last year in the freezing cold as they went out and cleared all the hydrants around town.
In one instance it took four big strong men 12 minutes to clear the snow and ice from one so that in an emergency they could have hooked up the hoses.
This is not for THEM, it’s for YOU and YOUR HOME.
Something this simple now will save you from having to ask, “What took so long? Why couldn’t you save my house?”
